My parents looked into many hotels and I think you are talking $250.00 for a middle of the road (per night)!!!

Go to Fantasy Springs Casino's website...get the 800 #....call, ask for a casino host...let the host know who you are and ask what their Casino rate is for a standard room, for specific dates? This will require you to sign up for the players card upon arrival and give them a little gaming action! Of course you have to be at least 21 years young.

Re: Where to and not to stay?

There are many places to stay in the area depending on how much you want to spend, and how far you want to drive. I would suggest checking out a AAA Tour Book for Southern California, and looking for the Indio, La Quinta, and Palm Desert areas. Since this whole area is a golf community (home of the Bob Hope Desert Classic), as well as a polo area, there are many hotels to choose from. The AAA book would give you a good idea of the cost and the quality of the hotel that you are looking for. It is high season right now, as we get a lot of "snowbirds" during the winter months, but sometime around May the prices may go down a little because of the heat. I would also guess that when the Coachella Fest comes to town, the prices may go up, so you may expect the same with this festival. Another option may be to go to the AAA Tour Book, and then venture onto one of the Priceline, Hotwire, etc... websites to see what the price difference is as well. Another suggestion is the Indian Palms Country Club down the street from the polo grounds (within a mile maybe/walking distance). It has a nice hotel with a pool in it's gated Country Club. Their prices aren't bad, but they won't put up with roudy behavior. Also heading toward La Qunita off of Ave. 50 (Calle Tampico & Desert Club Dr.) there is a brand new Embassy Suites Hotel. There are lots of great places to eat within walking distance of that hotel (from very casual to pricey). That's about 3 miles from the polo grounds. Good luck!

My friend and I got a room at the Hampton Inn -- $119.00 a night -- I thought that was very reasonable.

I stayed here when I went to see Collective Soul, hotel is dated, but comfy and worth the rates, and Cactus Jacks..cool restaurant bar!!

I work in the Golf Business in La Quinta and we do wholesale rates for Hotels and Golf T-times...many of the local hotels actually Black Out the Coachella and SC dates to us. Their prices jump, so we cant even get wholesale rates for our clients during those times...same as Bob Hope Classic, etc...the hotels want and get every penny they can get on hot nights.

Can you provide a phone number or address? I keep looking on line with Motel 6 but nothing for La Quinta. I've already booked a room but I sure would like to stay in a nicer place for less money. If I can avoid packing a can of Raid with me this year I'll be happy.

Palm Desert and La quinta both have their fair share of crime, just because Rancho mirage and Indian Wells and La quinta want travelers to think they are idyllic they are not much better than Indio, Palm Springs or Cat city, all of these have great resorts.

Yet the real thought was what cities are you pretty much good to go on picking something not to be a bad hotel....
Cat City has a couple?Palm Springs has a couple.Indian Wells does not have a little las Vegas area(Gang places even the cops do not go)
..If that is the point they could stay at DHS..LOL it has a few nice places too....
Everywhere even Malibu and Beverly hills has crime.
The point was what area is most likely to have a good hotel....;)

Indian Palms or Indian Wells. Can't remember which one, but when I check the papers on my desk I will tell ya. Great resort and very spacious for big groups. My group ranges from 8-12 ppl and we all fit/sleep comfortably. 2 beds to a room and 2 rooms + a pull out and a kitchen area with table :)

Walking distance from concert too, so you can walk back to your hotel drunk and not have the hassle of driving. traffic. and parking lot bullshit!! Oh and no driving back drunk!!! yahoo!
