Obviously the Stagecoach camping people in charge do not know what this means....
We drove hours on Thursday to get to Indio to be first in line or close to it to be camped close to the entrance to the festival since i have foot injuries. We arrived in plenty of time on Thursday and were among the first 10-20 people to pull into the Polo Grounds with our camper on Friday morning. We were shuffled all the way to the farthest point away from the entrance to the festival as possible.... The people who arrive later on Friday, got the spots that all of us that came early wanted. They tried to appease us by telling us we were close to the food vendors and showers, like that makes alot of sense to tell someone who is in a camper / motorhome. We had a shower and food with us, we came early to be close to the entrance. The walk after the concert was horrendous after all day on your feet. I enjoyed the festival alot, the camping orgination was appalling. It seem there was NO ONE in charge and the rules were being applied to some people and not across the board. We did not bring our BBQ, or dogs, or golf cart as the web site stated not to. But when we arrived others had and were using all these items. We were a little mad as we were so far away and could of definitely used our golf cart to soften the long walk to the festival. I think if you are first there in line to get a premium campsite, then you should be taken care of accordingly. If this does not change for next year, we won't be coming.

I hear ya! We live in San Diego. Our friends are in San Bernardino. We wanted good spots together, so our friends drove to San Diego the week before, got out tickets, so they could reserve our spot as we couldn't come down till Fri. evening. They got there by 9 AM and were in line (Top 20) when they opened the doors, and got sent to the farthesr corner:mad:   What makes it worse is the next day, when we walked to the entrance, we asked a camper (That was right across from the entrance) when they got in, they said LATE FRIDAY NIGHT!
The concerts were great, but they better change this policy before next year, or we won't be coming!

Well our experience was somewhat similar, our friends took our tickets so we could "camp together" like the web site said, they were able to save us a spot next to them, and when we got there late Friday night they told us we could not go in to the area we paid for because it "was too late and too dark", it was 10:30 pm and all the lights were still on, they shut the lights off at 11:00 pm. We paid for the oversized parking and they made us park in the over-flow far away from the entrance on Friday night. I guess we were lucky the next day when I got up at 5:00 am to go talk to the hired help and we got to move everything next to our friends after I made a huge deal out of it. I know it was the first year and all, but I sure hope they fix all this BS for next year or it will be our last also.

Looks like the way the camping will be handled has changed quite a bit for
'08. Check it out below. Do you all like the change?

DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW THE "TOW VECH" WORKS? IF WE HAVE A 5th WHEEL, WE DON"T HAVE TO PAY $100 FOR OUR TRAILER AND ANOTHER $75 FOR THE TRUCK RIGHT??

AND WHEN DO CAMPING TIX GO ON SALE?

I asked Countrygirl the same question and it is $100 for the trailer, $75 for the tow Vehicle and another $150 if you want electrical! That is in the El Dorado 1 camping area. I'm not sure about the others

Ok I understand the confusion now and have made an update to the website.

A tow vehicle (steering wheel and motor) as an extra vehicle being towed behind... Not pulling.

You can park it for FREE in the tow vehicle parking lot.

Does that make sense now? :)

Thanks Country Girl, Guess we are ok with just a $100 ticket for our truck and tralier! That is a little better sounding then $175

Countrygurl - so for my truck and trailer, in El Dorado - it would be $100, then $150 if we wanted the electrical hookup instead of using our generator. Right?

Camping is as follows:

100.00 for Trailer: TT or 5ver and Truck that Tows it

If you have a Class A or C that is Towing a Toad and you want to keep it at your site then there is an additional charge or 75.00

The wording on the Website is a little weird.

you dont have to pay for the vehicle that tows the trailer.

a tow vehicle is if you are towing a whole extra car. and you dont even have to pay for that if you park it in the parking lot.

I agree , I also showed up early last year...Was right at the clubhouse the furthest point from the entrance to the concert.
Why can't they enter on the other end so the early birds get the GOOD stops by the concert & put the power there also since its 150.00 (alittle high) for that. Or put the pow down the whole north side then if your late you'll still get power just down the other side.

Countrygurl..

Now that the correction on the wording is up .. and there was confusion, will Goldenvoice/ticketmaster refund for the mistake? My brother in law bought the extra today thinking the pulled trailer needed its own ticket seperate from the towing vehicle.

The wording about what a tow vehicle is was listed on the website before tickets went on sale. "an extra vehicle being towed behind... Not pulling. It can be parked for FREE in the tow vehicle parking lot." So I don't think they would do refunds. People should inquire directly with Ticketmaster just in case though.

yeah, but it was 2 separate lines and a Tow vehicle is the one that Pulls the Trailer:D

a vehicle behind an RV is "Towed" thus the nickname "Toad" for those vehicles:p

Countrygurl

i never heard of the toad nickname before. sorry :(

Broccoli1

i never heard of the toad nickname before. sorry :(

No worries.:) Can you change the wording on the Website?

Rv Trailer & Tow vehicle = 100.00
Rv ( Class A, C & B )= 100.00
Rv with a Towed Vehicle at campsite = 100.00 + 75.00

Rv's with Towed vehicles that do not wish to pay the aditional 75.00 may disconnect and move the Towed Vehicle to the Free Parking area.

Also in this Paragraph:

"All RVs, trailers & other such vehicles must be classified as a "vehicle made for sleeping" to enter onsite camping. Each Sleeping Vehicle will get a 1,000 square foot area. Tow vehicles are allowed this year for an additional price and must fit within your designated 1,000 ft area. Pull throughs are also allowed. There is also a free campers parking lot directly across way from main entrance (see map)."

The wording of Tow vehicle implies a Truck that pulls a Trailer. It should read "TOWED vehicles"

:)

Thanks for taking the time for the Forum.

How is this not clear? It's like a puzzle to me.

"an extra vehicle being towed behind... Not pulling. It can be parked for FREE in the tow vehicle parking lot."

"an extra vehicle being towed behind... Not pulling. It can be parked for FREE in the tow vehicle parking lot."

because it is preceeded by:

Tow Vehicle: $75.00

and a Tow Vehicle is the vehicle doing the Towing not the vehicle being Towed behind.

I know now that what the website was trying to do was give a definition of Tow Vehicle for this event and what the 75.00 extra charge is for but once I saw Tow Vehicle: 75.00 I thought it was for my truck:)

at least I have at least one other person who read it the same way:p

and I had my Business partner on the phone yellin' at me to get the camping tickets as they are going to sell out. So click click click and a duh moment for me.:D

It's all good.

OK see I'm w/ Broccoli on this one (since I'm one that bought the extra ticket too!).. Why would I need an extra vehicle? I cant see driving around the camp ground. I live an hr from the festival and am camping. So.. now countrygurl, can I sell this to a fellow camper who has not yet purchased their rv ticket, or does it have to be for a EXTRA vehicle behind the trailer..?

we went last year, followed ev1 and even asked if we where in the campers parking? the guy said "yeah" park here. so my hubby and I grabbed some chairs, our cooler(no wheels), and our tent, blankets and pillows, with the intent to set up camp. and come back and get the rest of our items. NOT!! we walked like 2 miles to get to the campers, camp ground. after we got there the girl told us our parking was in this LOT right across from our camping site!!!! so we rested for a few min with a nice cold soda from our cooler put up the tent and went back 2 more miles to the car, to get it and park in the RIGHT parking lot. The parking attendants are locals with a weekend job. they have no clue. maybe this year will be better. but we will not be going this year wish we could afford it, still trying to win tickets though. you guys have fun.
