Tough job man! Hope you scheduled your days off around the Festivals!!

Well, depends on what hat I wear. I do full charge accounting right now, in the golf business right now. I was a medical assistant for many years, but Accounting pays much more. I also have my Real Estate license, needless to say I haven't worked that for about a year! haha

Now back in nursing school for my LVN..then bridge to my RN.

I work for the State of Cali/Public Utilities Commission, I too only get paid once a month.
My official title is "Program Technician III". But here is what I really do. I am the OSHA of payphones. My territory covers everything from Bakersfield to the Mex border. Lots of driving involved.

Oh I also am a Notary Public/Loan Signing Specialist, not much money in that these days.

Then I have the hugs and kisses kinda jobs of.....Wife:), mother:), grandmother:D and caretaker for my 85 yr old mother in-law who has alzheimers.

And then I wonder why I need concerts and booze in my life.

Well...first I am a mother to 5 kids - boys ages 16, 10, 4, 2 - and my baby girl is 18 months. I run a home daycare that I started when I got pregnant with my last.

My "real" job is a 911 dispatcher for our police, fire and sheriff's department. I work there part-time to keep my skills up so I can go back full time when my children get a little older. I also work part-time there to escape from my house in the evenings! =)

Only if I want to have one of my own. LOL

I calendar appointments and generate letters. Filing, typing, data entry. Open/close case files. Read court orders. Run Rap sheets/NCIC criminal history. Process DNA test kits. I created a computerized record keeping system for our in-house drug counseling program and I maintain it for the facilitator.

Just clerical stuff. It's just office work, but we do have the folks on probation come into the office and it's kind of weird at times. Especially if someone didn't do what they were supposed to and they get rearrested. Thankfully it's not on me to do the drug testing. Thanks but no thanks on that one!

Was a professional driver for 20 yrs, at one time had every CA license avail--doubles, triples, haz waste, passenger & ambulance.
Started w/semi's, drove school bus in tule fog in San Joaquin Valley--school bus was great birth control!
Was an EMT & drove the ambulance, even drove a race car once. I can drive it all, but gave up cuz people drove me nuts.
Am currently wheelin a deal to be a personal asst. for a race car driver. Just for fun.
Tried the corp world, awesome $$, but married well & gave that up too. I'd rather be poor & happy, which I am. And happily married--smile.

phweeeew...thanks for "splainin' Lucy"...now I get it...ha ha...last time I flew SW--2 wks before 9/11...they wouldn't take $1,000,000 for a friggin' cracker....we sat on the tarmac for 2 hrs w/nada...I would've paid a mil for a friggin water...but that's not what I was thinking...anyway...cool job to the poster, nothing personal...nothing personal
just a really bad experience w/a dear pal who lost her hubby in the North Tower 2 wks later...so we laugh about it when we chat... but it's a constant reminder...enjoy life's moments, you just never know

Forgot to mention if a loved one goes on Namenda there is a special start up kit. If not done corectly it will not work as well. Also have their B12 level checked, B12 shots every 2 weeks to once a month have helped.

Not a dang thing wrong with that. Honest work for honest pay. WHAT you did doesn't count quite as much to a prospective employer as that the fact that you DID something, were a responsible employee, stayed on the job for a decent amount of time, etc.

Keep your resume out there... all the time... remember everyone you meet can also potentially be of benefit as they may have a lead. So let people know you are actively looking. You may need somebody to review your resume.. Brush up on interviewing skills .. Find out where you are lacking on your interviews and strive to improve!~ It will happen with time and patience!

Apply with the City and the County. They may not be hiring right now, but you'll be on file. Try grocery stores, you start at the bottom but the cashiers make well over $20 a hour. That's what I did for a few years. Moved up quickly.

Universities/Collages are a good place to try too. Also, the retail places that aren't big box chains, like REI would be good to try.

Go to usajobs.gov and create a resume. When you do a search for jobs, you can save the search and be automatically notified by email when there is a job that fits your search. These are federal jobs and I receive an email matching my search for Alabama about twice a week. I'm not ready to move right now, but I keep it active for when I am.

Just some thoughts you could try. There are people hiring, even now, they are just REALLY hard to find. LOL
