...picked up my tickets for Pres. Obama's town hall meeting in L.A. tomorrow, lucky to win a lottery for tickets, only 1100 people will be in attendance! Next up, winning the Mega Millions lottery...gotta strike while the iron is hot!

I've got a question for you to ask Obama. Since my Roth IRA has taken a 70% hit (from my original investment money...we are not talking any gains and I've already paid taxes on this money) I should be able to remove what remains of my money without any penalties. At this point I'm more worried about a roof over my head and food on my plate TODAY rather then when I'm 70.

I'll tell you what, there's three things that I don't care if I ever hear about ever again:

Michelle Obama's arms
How that Chris Brown dude smacked around that woman
and that damn nut job lady who had 8 kids or whatever

Are there not more important things to report on? Is this stuff that people actually care about?

the bonuses were for retention of the only people who can keep that company from going under. if those employees left, aig would most likely go under. if aig goes under the shit will hit the fan like never before. $167 million is pennies out of the ~$800 billion. this manufactured outrage on the part of the politicians is ridiculous. want to see aig cease to exist? be prepared to also see the collapse of the world's financial markets.

Are you serious?? They are really the ONLY people that can work for a company and do an excellent job? BS!!! They ran their company into the ground...couldn't be doing that good of a job!!

Bonus's are BS if they don't perform..and they did NOT perform. They are lucky to just have jobs these days!! My hours are cut again this week. There are plenty of people in line for their jobs and will do just as good and appreciate their jobs, and not beg for their damn bonus'!

Our company did very poorly, so I didn't get my bonus..and I am not crying about it! It is business!!!

they were not performance bonuses, they were retention bonuses. no one seems to understand that. if important executives left they could not bring someone in who does not know the internal workings of the company and expect them to jump right in immediately and be knowledgeable about what needs to be done.

how many of those execs have already left the company...
how much did the federal gov't give to AIG?
why does a FAILING company exec deserve a bonus?

pay a little and stop this or let them go and watch the economic collapse of THE WORLD'S FINANCIAL MARKETS? hmm?

they need to stick around and fix this mess they created, with everyone watching now they have no choice but to do so. if it takes a little bit of money, and in the grand scheme of things this is a pittance, then by all means pay it and get things fixed.

they didn't pay "a little" cooter...the bounuses were upwards of 1 mil to greedy rat bastard execs and ceo's. some were $6 mil checks.

Bullll!!! Come on, people come into new companies all the time and learn the ropes.! It isn't a secret how to operate in a company in a specific role.

Retention, smention....I don't care what it is called...they did not know how to run that company..so to say they need their babysitting money is BS. Like FF said...look how many left already...11 last I heard!! Take their money and run.

I guess us people...loosing our money is ok for you then? We lost our home, my hours are 10 now instead of 40, unemployment running out, husbands work down to 3-4 days a week...yeah great, retirements depleting...and they are allowed to live high on the hog?

You have to hold people responsible for their actions and theirs sucked..then they left! BRING IN SOME FRESH MEET...someone who appreciates their job and doesn't take it as a joke.

I have worked with these type of people. They are spoiled babies...and since they know damn well they have their little funds of money waiting for them no matter what their performance is, they lack in work! 3 hours lunches, company cars taken on vacations, expense reports that buy everything but company necessities! As a bookkeeper and human resources manager, I have seen it all!!

Ignorance is bliss....that's one of the many reasons why I hated doing payroll. President would walk into the office and request another paycheck (all the time). Last couple of months of 08 he doubled his pay to contribute 100% of the amount limited to contribute to a new 401K plan without seeing a pay decrease while he cut 70% of the work force and the ones left he asked them to take pay cuts.

When the IRS came in and audited the company mid last year we thought he was really going to get hit. They overlooked him purchasing company vehicles for his kids and all the tickets they received and them being on the payroll even when they didn't work there. All his personal credit card expenses for jewlery, food and trips that he had posted to job expenses. I could go on and on. He see's no reason to stop this practice since he gets away with it.

Yep...so to say the AIG asses are any better!! Yeah, us pee-on's have to sit back and watch them steal!

Boy I was getting all steamed up while baking my cookies.

You know...to say they need those dumbasses to stay cuz you cant train someone new to come in....well, the CEO's don't really do crap, it is their "assistants" who do all the work! Anyone can tell someone to pull reports, type up something, research this, pull that....The CEO just sits on his lazy arse.

So...Cooter do you also believe all those fancy parties they put on for "moral" support and to impress their clients to show they are still in the game was ok too?

I think that everyone from Obama down, Government, School districts, private businesses, ect, should reduce perks and take small pay cuts (3 to 5 %) to try and keep everyone working.
Unemployed people do not help the economy. It should be mandatory to make changes and try to afford to keep people at their jobs, exhaust every other possibility, before laying folks off.
But thats probably to simple of a way to look at things I guess

Not a bad plan...
we need to take care of eachother. I feel so sad when I see small mom and pop companies closing their doors-Reataurants, card shops, deli's dry cleaners, so many now gone. If we all ran companies this way then everyone would be out of business... No one seems to get that if you give bonuses like that out when companies are in dire need then the company will go under with or without these people. Besides that anyone who supports those over-bloated bonuses for people that are running this country into the ground should be ashamed of themselves... That is not right... That's part of the reason why this country is in big trouble right now, why we are receiving IOU's!

I don't like the way the government is using taxes to get the money back. I do think the money should come back, but what if some government person decides he needs a new car "Hey lets just impose a 90% tax on Mr. oil spill bill" this sets a president where the government can hit you with a huge tax just cuz. They should demand the money back and threaten jail time for mishandling the funds.

Never worked in Escondido hehehe

I've worked for worse. This one company I worked for ran two sets of books. One set for goverment grants and loans and another set for taxes. This same owner (married with children) had a hotel room down the street and any female in the company could join him for $500.00. I heard that it was about 15-20 minutes worth of work. We are talking the early 80's.

Lost my big case cuz it wasn't considered harassment cuz he really did follow thru w/the gifts--houseful of furniture, flights to lunch anywhere in CA. Huh? Strange, but his house of cards eventully fell. I left the Co after almost 20 yrs. They still talk about me. I set the standard to end the crap, but my work life was horrific the entire time I was there. Took my retirement & took my hubby on a 10 day $1000 per day cruise to make up for all the misery. Other than a paycheck to avoid work, I'll never punch another time clock.
