For anyone interested, thought I'd pass this on..

GoCountry Radio, 105 FM and Shawn Parr are planning their 3rd Annual Country Cruise to Alaska...Sept 12-19th 2009. They have private ship board events and excursions just for the GoCountry group....country dancing, music, parties and other private and fun events. And of course the ship cruises through scenic Alaska. Jack Ingram was on the radio this morning with Shawn Parr talking about the cruise, so I'm not sure if they are planning "special guests".
They have just reduced the stateroom fees, as low as $649. (I heard some rooms were even less) Anyone who has met Shawn Parr know he is a high energy guy and would be fun to spend a week with.
I met a couple at Stampede who have been on the other GoCountry cruises and said they had a blast, and it was a fun, fun week.
The link is www.coastlinetravel.com, but the site doesn't reflect the lower room rates, you need to call. The info is also on the GoCountry 105FM web site.

We all need to get hooked up with some MAJOR concert sugar daddies...or win the lottery!!!

I ran into Shawn Parr at B & D and he was having a really good time. He was looking to do some shots. :)

Yeah I don't think I could hook me a "Sugar Daddy" so I think I'll go with winning a huge lottery and taking all my SCMB friends along :-)

P.S. Shawn is pretty cool, but I like Robin Banks, what a cool name

The cruise is a great price, it is the air fair that will get ya! benice if they just kept it out of LA for the Riviera cruise...i know, not as nice, but more affordable

Sounds like fun but it interferes with WWF. Which is where I will be. HEHE

Maybe some other year. We could all budget for it and go as a huge group that would be awesome.

I know.... I saw that.

Looks like a fun cruise. There may be some interest, I offered to mention it on the board, and it seems there are Shawn Parr fans and GoCountry listeners here.

I guess I only searched for Southwest. $261 one way not included fees etc. But they also wont show Sept, so I did for early August.
And NY was $394 one way.

Doug and I have been looking to use our timeshare but the air fairs are sucky right now. Good thing I have 2 yrs to use my banked week

really?.. hmmm.. the info I was given, was- Alaskan RT, was $258, American Airlines $240....and I understand Expedia has similiar rates, too.. in the $250- $280 range. Oh, and if you want to go to New York, check Jet Blue.. their rates are about $400 RT....depending on travel dates, of course...

Wow...Southwest must be taking people over the coals! Sheesh. Oh well..not traveling then anyway..got WWF!! whooot!!

But as I said, looking at other places, so will keep those in mind. Got time share options all over the place.

update: I told Doug about those rates...he just went to Alaska Air and it is $209 "value" rates EACH way in Sept. I verified. And there are $159 "bargain" (if you dare) each way. He wants to go there for fishing, (great time for me! argh) But that would be almost $850+ with fees for two people round trip.

Where are you getting your rates?

Weird.. I am flying from CA to NY and my flight is only $322.15 .... all taxes/fees etc... Going up to Sacramento and that flight was like $95.00 with all fees, etc.

I can't get jet blues fares for those specific dates quite yet... Once I get 'em I'll post 'em up! I am REALLY looking into this... My 09 resolution was to TRAVEL!

YES.. TRAVEL..!!! I taught my kids early on to travel whenever you can... and they do, and love it.

thank you, and that is Round Trip? I don't buy the "bargain ones' incase of emerg and need to cancel...not worth it....I am just looking at general rates for a personal vaca...not the cruise. conflicts with WWF09. But as I told Doug,...times that by two people..and it adds up quickly! Lots to consider.

Hmmm ... It's getting better ... I have never been to Alaska nor would I ever just schedule a trip to Alaska so this might very well be the way to do it.. Of course I would miss WWF -- sometimes I hate being an *adult*, other times I love it.. DECISIONS DECISIONS!~ :)

Ok, we just got our timeshare package with cruise info...so we were looking into another date for the Alaska cruise since it would be an awesome cruise...just need to do at another date other than the go-country one.

I just got an email that says inside cabins $649.00 from go-country. But when you open the link for the Itinerary, it says inside for $749. So I called my timeshare agent to get rates for another date (cant travel during WWF!!) and she is telling me that the $649 is the normal price, no savings! I just went online to Alaska cruise lines and it is the going rate there too. I thought they had discounted rates. She was going to try to get the savings rate matched...but no need now. Anyway, just wanted to share that it is no savings at all. How dissapointing....i guess the fun part would be country fans on board.

My timeshare will allow me to trade for a cruise instead, so I am excited at this option! Anyone even been on the Alaska cruise? Summer seems like it would be the best time. Not toooo cold!!

Posting this information about the GoCountry cruise was informational only and intended to pass on the info to who ever might be interested. I have no stake in this other than to share an opportunity to others who may have an interest in going on an Alaskan cruise.
Leah is the contact person at Coastline Travel, in Orange County, 1 800 448 2374, that is arranging this cruise with Shawn Parr. I've talked with her a couple times and again this morning. I am not a cruise director, so I cannot give all the specifics on details, but she can.
Here's some info that may be helpful-
Princess Cruises and Go Country indeed lowered the room rates for this cruise.....(economy? perhaps, to boost sales?, perhaps, early booking incentive?, perhaps that, too) Regardless of the reason, the staterooms start at $649..per person, dbl occ.
But the BIGGEST difference in this cruise and another cruise is that this is a THEMED cruise..... this is the 3rd annual GO COUNTRY fan cruise with a week of special events only available to the Go Country group. Each person will be wrist banded from day one and included in all the private GoCountry events.....Shawn Parr will be the host for all events.
-A pre cruise country concert on Friday night....motorcoach and drinks
- dance lessons, taught by Shawn, there will be venues and blocks of time specifically for country fans...country music, country dancing and lessons and parties ONLY for his group.
- 2 private GoCountry parties....bon voyage party and end of cruise party, again hosted by Shawn Parr.
-an on board private Go Country DJ for all functions.
-Private shore excursions strictly for this group.
The list goes on....but again, the reason this cruise may be of interest is the opportunity to spend a week with those with similar interests and with a well respected, fun host. The GoCountry website has info, and pictures from previous cruises. I mentioned in an earlier post that I met a couple that went on one of the other cruises and had a ball....loved every minute.
Also... the RT airfares are reasonable...everything is relative. Reasonable for one person may not be for another. Air fares change. Jet Blue, Southwest, Alaskan Air fly to Seattle. Just takes some good planning to find a "deal" that works for you.

Hope this clarifies any confusion. I'm not the expert, just the messenger.

My absolutely most comfortable backyard riding boots .. YES! haha ... It's a pic of my boot from their site... My boot has a black and white bandana tied around it though!~ Superrrrrrrrrrr comfortable, but not good to dance in they are rubber soled so they don't "sliiiide"! Bootbarn has a bunch of styles for hella cheap right now! They have superrrr cute belts too (Ariat)!!

I almost bought the most comfy pair, tan with a canvas material trim, but opted for another set of lacers with leather soles so I CAN dance/slide! That was my reason for not getting the Phat Babies. I will have to check out Boot Barn, possibly my b-day present this month?? Doug...are you listening? Oh..gotta love Ariat's! Talk about comfy!
