I think here in CA all new buildings over 4 story are required to be built to sway with earthquakes. So have him just stay away from the edges, and hold off on moving until the shaking stops, and keep an eye for falling debri.

I'm still trying to find that e-mail I received a long time ago. It was very informative and completely had a different (smart) take on earthquake safety then what we were all taught in school. He investaged the aftermath of earthquakes.

As many of you know, I live in Chino Hills...it shook, rattled and rolled and then a big jolt! pictures, and mirrors fell off the walls, the TV danced across the wall unit, dvds off the shelf. but here's the clincher..
My daughter, Kelly, is in Europe for the summer. We email, IM or "skype" often. This morning, however, she calls me..uncharacteristic, so I feared the worst. she said, "mom I woke up Saturday night in a panic thinking there was an earthquake at home, and you and Kyle (her 20 yr old brother) were in danger"...i assured her all is well.....and then the windows started rattling, things were falling, the rumbling started, and the earth was moving, I screamed for Kyle, she could hear me say oh my gosh, oh my gosh, she is on the phone saying, "mom what's the matter??", (thinking home invasion or something) and all i could get out was "we're having an earthquake"!!....the land lines went dead, she went to her computer and the AP wire said 5.8 earthquake in so cal, epicenter in Chino Hills. her heart sank.....awful feeling for her. True Story.....
fortunately we reconnected via our computers....so I could really reassure her.

it was a pretty good shaker. i work in irwindale on the 2nd floor of a building and it swayed for awhile. i live in whittier and all was well. all i kept thinking was i hope my dogs are ok and my chimney is still where it was when i went to work. i think, though, i'd rather wait for an occasional earthquake as opposed to waiting for a definate hurricane, tornado or flood. thanks to God that no one got hurt.

Yeah it was in SB 4.5 (orig 5.0) it was pretty darn HUGE here in Corona area! My daughter was in Redlands almost on top of it, she was in a theater and a panic set in, she texted me asking if I was alright!
Then we felt an aftershock almost an hour later. It was a long rumble, I could here it coming, I waited, then got up to get my kids who were downstairs...of course they came running like little girls!! heehee.
Didnt seem as bad as the last one we had a few months ago, that one was a long rumble and a jolt, this one was a solid long rumble.

Most times I don't even add the cola. Why ruin perfectly good libations. If I'm not mistaken, I think they sold Sailor Jerry at '07 & '08 Stagecoach's except when that Jimmy Buffet impersonator was on stage. Then they sold some other crap.
