View Full Version : Dwight Yoakam - The Greek 7/27/08
Who is all going?
Tailgating to this venue will have to be away from the vehicles since you can't pick where you get to park and it's stacked? Any ideas on where to meet up and party before the show? What is a good landmark at the Greek that still outside so we can be using our own red cups? ummmmmm I should have paid more attention when I was there a couple of weeks ago.

Can we go directly to the top level?? or do they park us as we drive in the stack?
No choices on the parking you get the next empty spot. There are several different dirt lots they put you in too. I think there are 2 lots above and 2 lots below that you can't see each other. I wish the Greek was a lot closer to go check out. Anybody who's going know a spot?

I just convinced another Stagecoach attendee to go with me to see Dwight. Gary is looking forward to meeting you all and tailgating. He is starting up a new magazine called Cal Country and it's all about California and Country music!!!

This concert is going to be sooooo much fun with a lot of cool people going.
We just need to figure out where we are all meeting for the (kinda) tailgate. Another problem with the Greek is that cell coverage is non-existent.

you know already I'm there...now, for a preconcert get together..the Greek has a nice picnic area with grass. If i remember correctly is is up the hill, on the left, north of the venue entrance and ticket booth. if wrong.. let me know.
We can have snacks, and munchies and drinks. easy stuff that we can throw away. I'm thinking I can bring a table.. maybe hang my stagecoach flag on a pole to make it easier to find. (or some other marker)
This concert starts early (6:30)...do we want to meet about 5:30?

Yes, if I remember correctly they have picnic tables scattered about. A Stagecoach flag is a GREAT idea.
My party is slowly growing and now we have recruited Ian Newbill whom is an up and coming Country artist to join us at the concert. I got another ticket this weekend so I will be in the PIT, RowGG seat 5.

I don't mean to scare you. Griffith Park is just fine during the day. L.A. Zoo plus Gene Autry Museum, Golf, Travel Town, Pony rides, Tennis courts lots of stuff to do and the place is hugh, BUT I would not go there at night except to the Greek or during the festival of lights at Christmas. I feel so sorry for the people who own all those beautiful homes along the drive up to the Greek because of all the crazy noise us concert goers make coming and going.

Rose....I absolutely LOVE the Greek....my favorite by far. Have been going there for years. Worth the drive every time. It is safe, clean, and so nice nestled in the hills. And beautiful homes to look at driving up to the Greek. Even tho parking is a challenge, they get us out pretty fast. Should be a nice night.

I love outdoor venues (Doug doesn't as much) and I know it will be a blast! Especially with Dwight singin!!:D

Yeah, but when you get up front for most of them, like I did, you get no one in front of you! I loved that.

we did get up front..robert and the tatoo guy (jay?) pushed them aside to get pics....it was everyone around us trying to push us aside...

Horse, we had a BLAST. You would love Kymery, Festival & Kymery's daughter. Great group of gals and just so sweet, nice & FUN. Chris Cagle signed my t-shirt!!! We had to sneak our cameras in but I got some great pics that hopefully I will post later tonight when I get home. I ran into so many people.
We gotta start that MOO MOO concert trend. Pockets for Red Cups, Cameras, mini's etc.
I'm soooo tired today.

OMG...it was the best..got awesome seat upgrades!! 7th row center, Rose, just up to the left of us..great meeting her.
Fiddle player from Emmerson Drive pointed at me after I pointed at him, then he came down to play his fiddle right in front of us!! whoo hoo...got spoiled. Then my daughter got Chris Cagles pick, Dwight got some awards, and played extra long. Lee Brice on the pre concert was AWESOME up close and personal, just out front of the venue, like he was singing to us personally!
Festival got her camera in, so did Rose...so can't wait to see pics and video!
Never even saw, heard about or smelled a fire?? Beautiful night, with the tree lights lit up, awesome venue!!
Rose got an autograph!! Brat!! She tried for my daughter, but couldn't get him back. Rose pm me your addy so I can get you back for the shirts!

Vince Vaughn was one of the guys giving the award to Dwight. What where the names of the other two guys. My section was screaming so loud I couldn't hear anything.

WOW.. what a great weekend....Saturday night saw Alan Jackson at the Pacific Amphitheater...pit seats, 3rd row. He's awesome...I never get tired of seeing him, hearing him, listening to him. Already have my tickets for his November show. His opening act was the Zac Brown band.. they were great, too They have a current song on the radio, but I think they are more up and coming. Great music, and very entertaining !
Sunday night was the "Concert under the Stars" at the Greek.. can't say it was the "Dwight" show anymore, after seeing Lee Brice, Emerson Drive and Chris Cagle. Kymery, her daughter Rikki, ( a cutie) and I met up with Rose for a tailgate party. Rose, you're fabulous..remember we have a date to see Michael Buble at the Greek when he comes back to town!! Also met up with socalcountrygirl (fun re-hashing "that night" at stagecoach,eh? hee hee) Found Greer and Jamie (love ya both!!!) and we always seem to be at the same concerts but always miss eachother.. but we'll see eachother again at B & D!!
As always, the Greek was beautiful...(what fire??) nestled in the hills of LA. Dwight received a special achievment award from Dennis Zion, councilman from LA, and proclaimed that day as "Dwight Yokam Day"...Vince Vaughn was there to present the award s well. I've never been to the Greek, when the music started at 5:30. Lee Brice, and ended after 11 pm. Great night!
Now I have lots of photos, but they're in a shutterfly album.. (new to me) how can I share the link for shared-public viewing? maybe I should post this as a thread so someone with shutterfly experience can tell me. Anyway...kymery, thanks for the great night...always a fun adventure, with many more on the way.
I tried to post the video here but just the code would come up....ummmm. I was successful on putting it on my space though. Festival, Kymery & Rikki is where the fiddle player runs right past and plays right in front of. I was visiting Gary at the time next to his seat when I took the video. Otherwise he would have run past me too.
I will keep trying to post the video here. any ideas?

Festival you are so clear on the video being right in front of the fiddle player when he plays in the crowd. You can see Kymery pretty good when you bend down to grab your camera for a pic.
God only knows who's butt I caught at the end? hehehe Eventually I will have to learn how to edit. Little baby steps with all your help.

Yeah, thank goodness Nancy bent down to get her "hidden camera" then you see me in my sky blue shirt and blonde hair bouncing up and down, my daughter was just the other side of me.
You can see in the video where when I pointed at the fiddle player he points back with his bow, right in the beginning of the video...I was so excited he saw me, then I guess he saw the empty seats behind us and went there.

when you view the video on the right hand side it should say embed and have a code. copy and paste the code onto your profile and the video should play. :)

Click share and more options show up, click my space (we are blocked at work) but if I remember correctly the code comes up that you can cut and paste into your profile. If this doesn't work I will try and give you better directions when I get home.

when you view the video on the right hand side it should say embed and have a code. copy and paste the code onto your profile and the video should play. :)
Heather, thank you..It worked and I see the frozen beginning of the video, but after a while it wont play and it says it is no longer available!!

Those pics are great. We saw him at SC. The sad part is a friend of ours gets the full on back stage meet and greet passes for the greek and her tool of a husband wouldn't let her and the kids(and us too) go. She also wanted to ge em for Dolly and the gofest and he said no.
